To better define the needs and potential impact of Internet of Things (IOT) and smart edge devices on the design, monitoring, analytics, and maintenance of electrical distribution systems in hospitals. How do we drive better designs with added business value for the same or reduced cost?
The goal is an attempt to encourage collaboration across multiple disciplines and get different stakeholders working together to provide creative solutions that drive innovative design.
A list of stakeholders and needs that relate to the challenge.
A use-case that meets the unique needs of the stakeholders. Use cases shall include description of how the need will be met, business value, data and any algorithm that might be required.
Provide Return on Investment for each use-case based on hard or soft returns, including any impact to day to day facility management or operations. Show how these returns were estimated with supporting rationale.
Optional items for submission:
If the use-case impacts the design of the IDF / MDF closet include HVAC and power requirements. Incorporation of the smart edge devices into the electrical distribution design, one-line and system specification.
A one-line diagram documenting the electrical distribution system including both power infrastructure and IOT smart devices, based on your creativity.
If the use-case impacts the patient room, you may include drawings showing the location and specification of devices.
Once submitted, you can edit and add additional documentation to your ideas up until the challenge deadline.
